The Public Lab Store Starter kits for DIY environmental science

Acetate Collimation Slit

Sold out.

The same collimation slit found in our Foldable Mini-Spectrometer and Desktop Spectrometer kits. These collimation slits provide a very clean beam of light through their .4mm slit. They are made with silver nitrate photo emulsion on thin, flexible acetate.

Make sure to handle with gloves as hand oils will affect your spectroscopy.

One slit in each order.

Or you can buy a bundle pack with 4 narrower sizes to test out. The bundle includes .09mm, .12mm, .15mm, and .18mm

Community Science Forum: Frac Sand

Our quarterly print publication has a new name, and a wider scope. It's now called the Community Science Forum. This issue is focused on frac sand, and in particular on the work being done in western Wisconsin by community groups concerned about air and water quality impacts of mining operations there.

Usually $5, we're offering the new issue at an experimental price of $2 plus shipping.
